A Jeep Wrangler has broken down on the highway and crashed into a tree in New York City, killing one person and injuring five others, officials said.
The Jeep Wranger was being driven by a woman when it came off the road and struck a tree, according to the New York State Police.
Police said the woman, who was not identified, suffered minor injuries.
Authorities said she was driving a 2017 Wrangler and was not wearing a seatbelt.
Police found the Wrangler about two miles away at a garage on Broadway Street in Manhattan.
Police were investigating whether the Jeep was being towed at the time.
Police have not released any details about the woman’s condition or the cause of the crash.
No one was in custody.
The vehicle’s owner, a woman in her 20s, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
Police did not release a motive.
